One of the world’s most exclusive and expensive private islands that has become a favourite of Hollywood celebrities, royalty and high-flying billionaires. Coco Privé is a little slice of tropical seclusion, where staff will go above and beyond to meet your desires.
Part of the North Malé Atoll, Coco Privé is a speedy 35-minute private yacht ride away from Malé International Airport and only five minutes from its sister resort, Coco Bodu Hithi. Thanks to an abundance of dense palm trees and the reef that surrounds the island, prying eyes can’t get close to this exclusive-use property, making it feel wonderfully remote and secluded.
Address:Coco Privé, Kuda Hithi 20079, Maldives.
Style & character
Sleek, minimal luxury best describes this Guz Wilkinson-designed property, which comprises five guest villas – some with their own pools – and a split level main residence featuring a top-floor master suite, dining room, living area, outdoor bar and gym that wraps around a 40-metre pool looking towards a pristine beach and crystal clear waters. A thick covering of foliage, neutral colour scheme, clean lines, sloped roofs and sunken outdoor lounges give off an understated, chic barefoot luxury vibe.
Service & facilities
A dedicated team of staff is available 24 hours a day; service is discreet and tailored to meet your every whim, with preferences requested prior to arrival. All meals and snacks are prepared on demand, while alcoholic and soft beverages as well as spa treatments are unlimited. As well as the gym and pool there is a sauna.
Each villa is different; some have their own pools, outdoor soaking tubs and showers or direct access to the beach. All have a prevailing calming aesthetic with lots of timber, biscuit hues, sleek furnishings and floor-to-ceiling windows with sliding doors that open up to let the outside in. You’ll find extremely comfortable king-sized beds; concealed televisions, electric curtains and a lighting system that can be controlled via iPad. Bathrooms are spacious and luxurious, however water pressure is not the best, so plump for a room that doesn’t have a fancy experience shower. The full-size Aqua di Parma toiletries are a treat, while the top-floor master suite has the best sea views.
Food & drink
Food is prepared on demand to your requirements and tastes by your own personal chef. A good starting point is to let the chef work his magic to churn out seafood-based dishes from perfectly cooked local reef fish to light and fluffy prawn tempura or shellfish risotto – all perfectly pared with wines from the island’s collection. Be aware though, that if you don’t specify, the kitchen will go all out, with multiple courses for each meal, whether you like it or not.
